Not in a lesson. On a cereal box, on a door, on the back of somebody's shirt. That is the moment the alphabet actually starts, and it does not wait until anyone feels ready to teach it.

This kit is built for that moment. LUMO the fawn walks across Alphabet Valley to meet all twenty six letters, and your child comes along. Every letter gets a page of its own: the big one and the little one side by side, one picture to remember it by, four familiar picture words to say together, and four boxes that go from a letter shown with arrows, to a dashed one, to dots at the start and end of each stroke, to an empty box that is entirely theirs.

A gentle first step from noticing letters to recognising them, saying them and having a go at making them, without turning the kitchen table into school.

Your child does not need to know any letters yet. This is the introduction, not the test. Start anywhere, repeat the pages they love, and let them set the pace.

Ten minutes is a good session. Some days it will be one page. Some days your child will do the letter D four times, which is not being stuck, it is deciding to get good at something.

What you need

A printer and paper. A crayon or a chunky pencil for the writing pages. Scissors for the games, and those are a grown-up job.

You never have to print all 61 pages at once. Print one page, one letter or one game, whenever you need it.
