Saying the numbers and knowing what they mean are two different things, and the second one is quieter. It arrives the day a child stops chanting and starts pointing. One cookie. Two shoes. That is counting, and the words on their own were never it.

This kit takes a child from reciting numbers to understanding what one to ten actually mean, through counting, tracing, matching, drawing and play.

LUMO the fawn goes out into the meadow to find the numbers, and your child comes along. Every number from one to ten gets a page of its own: the numeral, the word, exactly that many things to touch and count, and four boxes that go from a number shown with arrows, to a dashed one, to a faint one, to an empty box that is entirely theirs.

Then the numbers stop sitting still. There are groups to count and circle, baskets to fill, animals to feed, a trail of stones to cross in order, and a page near the end where your child picks a number nobody chose for them and draws that many things.
